Doulas provide education and emotional support during pregnancy, labor and birth. I will teach you pain management techniques, positions for assisting the descent of your baby, and coping strategies as well as help you to prepare for the logistics of having a baby.
Should you choose to have a hospital birth, I'll explain the risks and benefits of any procedure presented by your physician. I support you in your decisions and have no other agenda. I act as an advocate as well as constant support, as doulas do not change shifts. I will be there from the moment you call in need of physical support, until after you are comfortably nestling your baby. Breastfeeding assistance is offered.
The benefits of hiring a doula include shorter labor and less need for interventions such as forceps, vacuum extraction, and cesarean.

"Lora was an amazing source of support during our surprise induction and three day labor process. She helped us the entire way, to stay calm, positive, focused and was very diplomatic in working with the many hospital providers involved in our care. I would highly recommend working with her."
~ Doctor Beth Cohen M.D., doula client, San Francisco, Ca.
"Lora Hart is simply the most amazing human being I have ever met. She was referred to me by a mutual friend after I found out I was pregnant at 38! I was nervous to say the least. She came to our home and instantly put us at ease. Helped us to understand not only her role in my delivery, but that of my body. She continually reassured me that I knew what to do. I had initial concerns that having a Doula meant that my husband would be pushed to the back burner. But Lora worked with him during my labor and delivery, encouraged and showed him how to help me. The baby was stuck and with her calm spirit and confidence, we delivered a 9 pound 5 oz little boy with no medical interventions at all! My husband even got to deliver our son!
If you are looking for a Doula, look no further! You will not regret your decision and have an experience you will never forget. I love this woman and she is forever a part of my family!"
